Bob Welch built the Boondocks truck stop on land he leased from a doctor at the time. He choose the spot because in 1973 the highway ended there and, "you either had to go left, right or come see me," he said. Since then he and his wife Miriam have owned and operated the Boondocks truck stop until recently announcing it will be closing on October 20th.
